i need this nice effect, but horizontal and with my specific MCs, not automatically generated instances (different widths, same distance between MCs). I NEED your help ASAP, guys! :|

Well, wait for my post around next week and I'll show you :). I'm scripting in classes now. It makes it a lot easier in this case. The buttons are extending MovieClips, so that it can have 'features' like position, parent, child, etc.
