I was messing around found a nice tool called Break apart then using the lasso tool to select - then move the pieces around. I'll upload a partial game - not really a game but in the making. Thanks for the reply though! Oh, check out my site - your credited for your game. nxt-ware.net
NXT3, I did not mask, or cut, I simply drew parts of the bird with the brush tool and (it was a long time ago) I think I edited the parts going downward with a motion tween.
I gotta question - how did you get the bird to explode. I looked at the source and it looks like you did some masking or cutting. not sure. I tried to use a lasso tool and a pen tool but it doesn't work.
