3D LED SCROLLER

The idea of this completely scripted 3D scroller is to draw a LED for each font pixel and placing the LEDs on an elliptic oval circular 3D sphere.
The text of the scroller itself is set by a simple string yet a special editable binary font set is created by this script to switch the LEDs on/off. So far only a 5x5 Latin character font with capital letters A-Z, punctuation mark, 0-9 numbers ... is...

Sir,Please help me how to change the x and y-axis from 0 to any other values, in the actionscript. As you have set the default x and y-axis to 0. Would be very thankful to you if you kindly explain me the process. Thanks in advance.

It's really a creative and useful work. Now my question: how could I add a (it's spelled cedilla) into this flash? A "C" with a small dot below it would do, but so far I failed to do it. Any tip or help is most welcome.

Hi, can you please change the text to "Happy New Year - 2010" on the 3D scroller. And mail me the cs3 swf files to [email protected] please!

Thanks for the details, I was not aware of the issue because I use Internet Explorer.
I found the cause but I need to search for a solution.
It is caused by some iframes, ffiles opens some iframes from other servers that help delivering ffiles emails faster.
Mozilla Firefox somehow registeres these opened iframes as visited pages and it duplicates current page in the "back" history.

Edit: I think is fixed now.

@adrianTNT: I take Firefox because of its outstanding performance. In Firefox 3.5.x all flash movies look like rendered with twice the speed compared to IE8!
If I click to a movie from here or from any category than I can't use the 'Back' button and I find two of the same entries having the same page title in the browser's history.

Thanks for everything!

@advance-media: whats wrong with the "back" button? It works ok with me. Please give me more details if you think something is wrong. Thanks.

I included your CS3 version in your files.

You're a legend. Thanks! Works great!!

I'll send you through an email with my version attached, as well as a discussion about some potential work together with your charts...after all, this is about showcasing your work and hopefully benefiting from it.

OK! I like CS4 so much and currently am eager to test the announced CS5 apple iPhone features.
Anyway here is a CS3 edit of this 3D LED Scroller script:

advance-media.com/3D_LED_SCROLLER_CS3.z ip

It should be no big problem to retrieve the displayed string (text) from an external source.
Please click on 'The HTML box' thumbnail which you'll find above.
That script of mine will show how to retrieve a variable from xml or even faster and simpler from the query string / FlashVars object.

Special thanks to adrianTNT for making this an 'admin pick'! Keep up your great work for the community and keep up this site!

(adrianTNT, what did you do to the browser back button on this page? Would a JAVASCRIPT line like location.replace('myPage.html'); help?)

Thanks for all your overwhelmingly positive feedback!

thanks for the quick comment back about no CS3 (I understand). I only suggested a CS3 version so I could learn from your code, change the shape size and change the text. Any chance of having the text outboard (eg. XML file)? Would be nice to be able to change the size too, but changing the text is the main thing. Thanks again.

I made it "admin pick" because users like it very much.
I personally thought it is not very special when I reviewed it for approval, but users obviously like it; That is why is important to leave ratings and maybe comments for the pending listings so admin can know users opinion.

Sorry, no CS3, this script uses faster Vector CS4 storage technology.

var LED:Vector.<Shape> =new Vector.<Shape>(numLED);
